Port Blair, Jan 09: The Port Blair Municipal Council has cautioned the cattle owners to refrain from letting on their cattle on public places on roads. The direction comes following the observation of the Council that despite repeated direction to the cattle owners including pig owners by the PBMC, they are not complying with the direction of the Council and allowing their animals to move about freely on the roads, public places and public building premises. This not only poses threats for the vehicles moving on the roads but also for the pedestrians and also creates unsanitary conditions on roads and public places.
In a press note received here today, the Secretary, PBMC has stated that it has now become essential to deal sternly with such owners and henceforth incase any such animal is found straying on roads or public places the same will be treated as unclaimed one and will be captured by the employees of the Municipal Council.
In view of the forthcoming visit of the President of India to these Islands, the cattle owners are more emphatically cautioned to refrain themselves from letting on their cattle on public places and roads.
It is also informed that the PBMC will not be responsible in any way for any loss occurring to any individual on account of capturing and subsequent transportation of such un-claimed animals to isolated places. The Council will also not entertain any claim for compensation, the release added.
