Port Blair, Jan 06: The PCC President Kuldeep Rai Sharma who is at Long Island on a tour was requested by the populace of the island to submit their long pending demand of considering weekly 7 days boat service from Port Blair to Long Island and vice verse before the AN Administration.
Accordingly Kuldeep has requested the Administrator to consider boat services throughout the week in place of the present system of allowing boat services only for three days a week.
Kuldeep stated that after the closure ply wood industry at Long Island, the local youths have become unemployed and maintaining their families in very pitiable condition. Once regular services of sea transportation is considered, the tourist flow to this island will increase which will not only earn revenue to exchequer but tourism industry of the AN Administration will flourish. And once the flow of tourists to the island is increased, the local unemployed youths will also be benefited by earning their livelihood through tourism.
Kuldeep also stated that the beauty of the island may fetch a good number of tourists, if sea transportation is provided to them properly.
