Port Blair, Jan 05: With the aim to create awareness among the youths about cooperative, the National Co-operative Union of India, Cooperative Education Field Project (Ministry of Agriculture and Co-operation) A & N Islands Unit has organized a “Workshop on Cooperative Organization” at conference hall, Mahatma Gandhi Govt. College, Mayabunder today. Dr. R.N. Rath, Principal, Govt. MGG College Mayabunder was the Chief Guest on the occasion. In his address he said that the concept of co-operative is very much important, it can play a vital role for Socio- economic upliftment of people. He expressed his happiness towards the efforts taken by National Cooperative Union of India CEFP A & N Islands Unit for creating awareness among the youth about this valuable concept. Welcoming the gathering Mr. Surendra Nath Singh, Project Officer, National Cooperative Union of India, A & N islands Unit has said that Cooperative is a non-profit organization where members have their equal rights to survive. He urged the needs of the youth’s active participation in cooperative movement. Dr. B. Prabhuram, HOD Cooperative Management, MGG College Mayabunder, in his address highlighted the historical movement of cooperatives. He said that success of cooperative is only depend on active participation of members and good governance. He emphasized the needs of youths for their involvement in cooperatives for better future. Dr. M Suresh, Asst. Professor, Department of Cooperative Management and other resource person were also delivered their lectures on the subject. Around 100 students of final year History and Political Science Department were attended the workshop.
