Port Blair, Dec 20: Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Member of Parliament of A & N Islands, while in Lok Sabha during the winter session has raised an unstirred question on 16.12.2013 before the Speaker of Lok Sabha about corruption in granting NOC to the Director of Tourism, A & N Administration to develop 50 Berth Yacht Marina at Viper Island which is a historical place and also sensitive in security reasons.
The MP has also raised the question to furnish the report of action taken against the authority of A & N Command who was responsible for giving consent by overlooking the security importance on the issue NOC.
In reply to the question, the Minister of Defense, Mr. A. K. Antony has submitted his reply in the floor of the Parliament that in May, 2013, A & N Command cancelled the in-principle NOC issued to a proposal of A & N Administration. Regarding construction of Hotel & Yacht Marina at Viper Island Minister of Defense further informed that the inquiry into the matter is under progress.
