Port Blair, Dec 11: In furthering the necessity of Human Resource (HR) Development and towards creating a technically sound HR Pool amongst Islanders, Andaman & Nicobar Command (ANC) and Naval Ship Repair Yard (NSRY), Port Blair, have taken further initiatives to nurture and motivate the youth of our Islands. NSRY, the largest industrial establishment of ANC is an epitome of the best HR practices in the emerald Isles, and has been conferred with the prestigious award for best HR practices by the Chief of Naval Staff earlier this year. Facilities of NSRY are opened to local schools and technical institutes to give them professional exposure on a number of occasions.
Students ofDr BR Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Dollygunj were invited to participate in ‘Engineers’ Day’ celebrations and were given hands on exposure on various ship repair activities.
With a view to provide practical orientation and motivation,students of ITI Dollygunj were invited for hands on exposure. The primary aim of the initiative being exposure to the budding technicians, on intricate aspects of ship repairs and to make them aware of opportunities available.
Meritorious students attending ‘Inspire’ Programme conducted by Department of Science and Technology and local Science Centre were also hosted by the Yard, while as part of the annual training camp activities, about NCC cadets were taken around the Yard facilities and a harbour cruise on FC Manoram.
Col Harmit Singh, the Command PRO stated that ANC is committed towards furthering HR Development, and the Armed Forces call upon the vibrant youth of our Islands in furthering our cause.
