Port Blair, Dec 05: Jatin Halder, a police constable posted at Campbell Bay has been seriously injured in a road accident at Chakkargaon this evening. Jatin, was found lying unconscious and bleeding heavily by public in the middle of the road, between two adjacent traffic dividers.
According to Eye Witnesses Jatin was driving uncontrollably towards Chakkargaon Market in a white Moped, bearing reg no AN-01, H-6108. Eye witnesses say that while driving uncontrollably, probably under heavy influence of liquor, Jatin had first hit a traffic divider and then slightly brushed a mini cargo vehicle, coming from opposite direction, before falling flat on his face.
The mini cargo van however did not stop but other road user showed great courage to come forward and send Jatin to Hospital in an auto. PCR van was immediately called but even after 10 minutes the PCR van did not reach the spot. Jatin Halder came to Port Blair on leave recently, sources told Andaman Sheekha.
