Port Blair, Dec 04: The Andaman and Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee has noted with thanks of many noble changes in these islands, especially in the field of education, after taking over the charges of the Administrator by the present Lt Governor. Apart from opening second shift in JNRM, he has taken initiative of enhancing seats in many subjects for the welfare of the students, the ANTCC feels that there should affiliation to offer PhDs programme also in the JNRM College. Hence the PCC President Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Lt Governor to consider of getting affiliation to offer PhD program in various subjects in Arts, Science and Commerce at JNRM college so that the aspirants, who have utmost desire to have PhD degree for their prospective future may submit their thesis from Port Blair itself. Most of the aspirants cannot go to mainland for acquiring this degree due to acute poverty.
Going and staying to mainland to quench their thirst will be a very costly and unaffordable affair for them.
Kuldeep has further stated in his letter that since the college has faculties and well equipped labs in JNRM College, these faculties can guide such desirous students to obtain PhD degrees, in case the AN Administration takes up the issue with the Pondicherry University and has requested for consideration of affiliation to offer the PhD programme in suitable subjects in Arts, Science and Commerce streams at JNRM College.
