Port Blair, Nov 20: Complaints from LPG consumers were being received frequently from all over the Islands about non-receipt of the cylinders in scheduled dates causing hardship to the consumers. To sort out this issue and to find out a workable solution for ensuring delivery to cylinders in a time bound manner Mr. Amit Satija, Secretary (CS & CA) held a meeting with the officials of IOC and the representatives of the Consumer Co-operative Stores Ltd., Priya Indane and the Ideal Indane the LPG distributors on 19.11.2013, Ms. Mariyam Bibi, Adhyaksha, Zilla Parishad was also present in the meeting.
Secretary expressed his concern about the non-issue of cylinders according to the time schedule notified by the distributors.
Indian Oil Corporation officials informed that there was a delay in receipt of gas in LPG Bottling Plant as such they have regulated the supply limiting the number of cylinders to the distributors. He also informed that now they have received the gas in the plant and Indian Oil Corporation will clear all the backlog of the cylinders by 28.11.2013 and issue required number of cylinders to the distributors for the consumers. The distributors have been asked to collect the cylinders from LPG bottling plant and deliver to the consumers as per the schedule notified by them and Consumer Co-operative Stores Ltd. also confirmed that on Saturday a ship containing 3000 LPG cylinder with sail for Kamorta, Katchal and Campbell Bay.
The Secretary will review the distribution of cylinders issue again on 29.11.2013.
