Port Blair, Nov 20: The A & N State Co-operative Bank organised an Awareness Campaign on Financial Literacy in association
with NABARD, Port Blair to popularize the benefits of banking services among the Fishermen Community of Junglighat Seashore area. The programme was inaugurated by Mr. Bhagat Singh, Chairman, A & N SCB on 20th November, 2013. The other dignitaries included Mr. K Murugan, Chief General Manager, ANSCB, Mr. Hemraju, Chairman, Fisheries Federation, Smt. Shabhan Banu, Assistant Manager, NABARD, Smt. Annamajohn, Branch Manager, SCB Dairyfarm, Mr. Raghubir Singh, AGM, ANSCB and Smt. Elizabeth Mary, Women Development Officer, ANSCB and a large gathering of women community especially fishermen families attended the function.
In the beginning, Smt. Elizabeth Mary welcomed the gathering and extended warm regards to the Chief Guest.
Mr. Bhagat Singh, Chairman, A & N SCB in his key note address urged all the women groups and people present on the occasion to avail the benefits of all the schemes of the bank. He also urged the womens to improve their economic scenario by joining hands with the Bank. Based on the request of the gathering of the area, the Chairman has also assured to open a Bank branch of A & N SCB in due course of time in the vicinity of Seashore area of Junglighat.
Mr. K Murugan, Chief General Manager, A & N State Coop. Bank in his address invited the attention of all women community members to the various facilities offered by the bank and urged them to join hands with the bank by opening of Savings Bank accounts/No frill accounts, etc. He also dwelt the loans schemes of the bank especially like loans for Marriage, Education and Medical treatment. Smt. Shaban Banu, Asst. Manager, NABARD, Smt. Annamajohn, Branch Manager, SCB Dairyfarm, Mr. Raghubir Singh, AGM, ANSCB and Smt. Elizabeth Mary, Women Development Officer, ANSCB also spoke on the occasion.
Mr. Hemraju, Chairman, Fisheries Federation also spoke on the occasion and informed the gathering about the purpose of the campaign mainly the need of financial literacy by means of spreading financial literacy especially among the people. He also stressed that all the people shall come forward and open their Savings accounts, which is the need of the hour in all Emergency cases. He also said that the Bank’s campaign will be available for general public for 3 days commencing today at their local area. The programme ended with Vote of Thanks proposed by Smt. Elizabeth Mary, Women Development Officer of the Bank.
