Port Blair, Nov 18: The Annual Zonal Scout and Guide Camp for the School children began at the community hall campus of the Kinyuka village yesterday evening.
Inaugurating the camp the Chief Guest the DSP B.Saighal said that the Scout & Guide Organisation aims to impart the Service oriented values of life among the students, making them responsible citizens to work for the welfare of the Society. The principles of discipline, honesty and selfless service of the community, which the student learns in the camp, shape his personality.
The Education Officer Mr. H. Nathaniel while welcoming the guests, informed that, this time, apart from the routine activities, focus would be given to make them aware about the need of the disaster preparedness, in the camp. He said that Trekking has also been included in the list of the activities.
Proposing the vote of thanks, the Principal of Govt.SSS. Malacca Smti Sangeeta Chand called upon the students to learn the activities sincerely in the camp, so that they can inspire their other class mates also, when they return to their respective schools after the camp. Earlier the Chief Guest hoisted the camp flag, and then the small children of the Govt. P.S. Kinyuka presented attractive Cultural Programme.
The Medical Superintendent Dr. Titus, Executive Engineer Mr. Jina Prakash, Captain of the Small Lapathy Village Smti Irina Mark, Captain of the Kimius village Mr. Reganold, Captain of Kinyuka, Officers from the different departments, Heads of the Institutions and villagers were also present on the occasion. 50 Scouts and 50 Guides of middle school level from the different schools of the zone are taking part in the 5 days camp.
