New Delhi, Nov 14: The 33rd edition of the mega fair – the India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2013 got off to a colourful start at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi today. The First Lady of the A & N Islands, Smt Suneeti Singh inaugurated the Andaman and Nicobar Islands’ Pavilion by cutting the ribbon this evening as part of the IITF 2013, being held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, from Nov 14 to 27, 2013. Soon after inaugurating the pavilion, the First Lady visited the stalls and evincing keen interest in the items on display, enquired about the exhibits. While interacting with the people at the stalls, she also motivated the participants from the isles to generate awareness amongst the visitors about the immense potential of the emerald islands.
Various government departments and private enterprises from the islands, associated with tourism industries have put up their stalls in the A&N Pavilion, showcasing the islands’ rich cultural heritage and the developmental activities.
Different departments, viz Tourism, Fisheries, Forest, Industries, Agriculture and ANIIDO besides some SSI units from the isles have put up their stalls. The Industries Deptt is the nodal agency for the A & N Pavilion this year.
The Adhyaksha, Zilla Parishad South Andaman, Ms V K Mariyam Bibi, Chairman, PBMC, Shri K Ganeshan, Up Adhyaksh, ZPSA, Shri Anand Amrit Raj, other PRI members, Chief Secretary, Shri Anand Prakash, Principal Secretary, Smt Rina Ray, Secretary Industries, Smt Rashmi Krishnan, Secretary to the Lt Governor, Shri S N Mishra, Dy Resident Commissioner, New Delhi, Shri Kuldip Singh Thakur besides other senior officers of the A & N Administration were also present on the occasion.
