Port Blair, Nov 12: There are more than one reasons, why the Lt. Governor should personally intervene in the matter of recruitment of 422 teachers and cancel the entire process. Such cancellation will not only keep Island jobs secured only for Islanders in future but also give Administration enough time to discuss with general public and find out a strategy to keep mainlanders away from local government jobs.
The very first reason is that in the entire process nowhere ‘LOCAL’ term is not used and hence mainlanders will run away with lion share of posts.
Secondly, there is a major blunder in the vacancy notice published for the post of GTT science. As per norms, for secondary level only GTT (Science) candiates should be recruited but for reasons unknown this time the Education department has advertised for the post of GTT (Physical Science) (15 posts) and GTT (Bio-Science) (23 posts) seperatedly, which is against the norms.
If the Education department is planning to appoint separate science teacher for chemistry/ Physics and Biology then why for social science, posts for GTT Geography, GTT History etc were not advertised? Why such double standard? Has this been done to give advantage to some blessed candidates?
Not only this in education qualification, for four years integrated course, atleast 50 % marks has been kept as essential while for GTT Home Science the essential marks is Graduation with atleast 45%. Why two sets of rules?
There are enough reasons for the Lt. Governor to cancel the present recruitment process for now. Atleast this will save 422 local jobs from outsiders. Before next advertisement there should be brainstorming sessions for Locals and meetings with Ministry people in New Delhi so that the word ‘LOCAL’ can be entered in all local recruitment drives. Let all local jobs are filled only with local candidates.
