Port Blair, Oct 31: Commissioner-cum-secretary (Revenue), Shri Mohanjeet Singh, IAS on 30th October visited Campbell Bay Area in Nicobar district. He was accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar district and the Assistant Commissioner, Campbell Bay. During his visit he inspected the field offices of the Revenue Department. He also visited the encroachment areas in Campbell Bay sub-division and took stock of the situation of encroachment. A strategy is also being formulated to tackle/remove unauthorised occupation of government lands.
A meeting was also conducted with the PRI members and Tribal Council leaders and the local Head of Offices in the APWD Guest house. In the meeting he urged the local department heads to take all measures to safeguard their land from unauthorised occupation.
He further urged the people of Campbell Bay to desist from encroaching public land otherwise strict action will be initiated against such persons.
