Diglipur, Oct 08: Believe it or not, India Post, popularly known as Postal Department took 28 days to drop a very urgent letter to the addresses, who was hardly 71 KM from the government office, the letter was dispatched.
Harish Chandra Das, a resident of Subhash Gram, Diglipur was badly waiting for his Admit Card of a test for the post of Hostel Superintendent, Mahatma Gandhi Government College (MGGC) since a long time, which was scheduled on 29th September 2013.
Finally due to non-receipt of the Admit Card, he could not attend the said test, despite of the fact that he possessed all requisite qualifications and experience for the post and in the remote area, he had very high chance of clearing the test.
But to the utter dismay of Harish, on 30 September 2013, one day after the test, the Postal Department delivered the Admit Card in his postal address. The Admit Card was dispatched from Mayabunder and to reach to the addressee at Diglipur, the letter took 28 days.
Upset and depressed Harish rushed to the Post Office and know the possible reasons behind this delay, which just shattered his dream of getting a job.
On enquiry he found that the letter was dispatched from Mayabunder on 2nd September 2013 however, no one in Post Office was able to reply that why it took 28 days to deliver this urgent letter.
However, when questioned the Post Master of Diglipur Post office became furious showed him the exit doors. “Go and lodge complaint wherever you want to,” was the reply of the Post Master of Diglipur Post Office.
The candidate, who smells rat in this entire incident of delay in delivery of important letter now allege that the delay was made intentionally to help other candidates, who are close to the Post Master. The Post Master however could not be reached for a comment.
Same old story, the affected blame someone and turns his back. How long will this continue?
I urge the candidate to show some resolve and do what the post master allegedly said “Go and lodge complaint …” and set a precedent.
