Port Blair, October 3: As part of the 59th Wildlife Week Celebration-2013, the Department of Posts in association with the Department of Environment & Forest, A&N Administration has brought out a Special Cover/Cancellation. At a simple function at Raj Niwas here today, the Lt Governor, Lt Gen (Retd) A.K. Singh, PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, released the Special Cover/Cancellation. Chief Secretary, senior officers of the Administration and Forest Department were present.
Speaking on the occasion, the Lt Governor expressed his appreciation that the Islands had preserved the unique flora & fauna and its rich bio-diversity, for which the people of the Islands can feel proud. Lauding the contribution of the people in keeping the pristine beauty of the Islands intact, he urged all to contribute in every possible manner to preserve the rich bio-diversity of the Islands.
In his brief address, Mr. Jaswant Panda, Chief Post Master, West Bengal Circle informed that the Special Cover has been brought out by the Postal Department to commemorate the 59th Wildlife Week celebration-2013.
Earlier, welcoming the chief guest and others, Mr. Madhava Trivedi, PCCF (i/c) (Forest Department) highlighted the importance of the wildlife week celebration.
