Diglipur, Sept 30: Following minor scuffle, the Jeep Operators of Kalighat area, have gone on strike since Sunday. According to reports there was a cold war between Auto Operators and Jeep Operators of Kalighat area since last few months, which resulted in minor scuffle on Sunday.
Sources told Andaman Sheekha that there are nearly 10 autos and 10 Jeeps at Kalighat and according to auto owners they are suffering huge loss in business due to these Jeeps operating in Kalighat area. The Auto Operators have been demanding since last few months to bar Jeep operators from operating in nearly 2 KM area of Kalighat Bazaar, which Jeep Operators are strongly opposing. As both Jeep and Auto operators have PSV license Jeep Operators are demanding equal opportunity in business.
The cold war resulted in Minor Scuffle on Sunday Morning at Kalighat, after which the Jeep Operators went on strike. However it is expected that there could be some settlement by today late evening.
Meanwhile the strike as hit general public, of the area, hard as for a little distance public has to pay nearly Rs. 40 to Rs. 50 for which Jeep operators used to charge only Rs. 10.
