Port Blair, Sept 10: Samir Mandal, a carpenter by profession is suffering from Cancer. He had piles and due to prolonged negligence that transformed into cancerous growth. He was admitted in G B Pant Hospital for 28 days following which doctors have now advised his family members to take him to Mainland India for further treatment, as the situation seems to have gone out of control.
But taking Samir Mandal is not easy for the family as they do not have sufficient money for the Cancer Treatment. Samir Mandal has left job nearly 3 months back and entire days he cries because of pain and mental agony. His wife does nothing as she has to take care of him. His old Mother-in-Law works in fields and homes to earn money. For the treatment, the family has already sold the auto of his brother-in-law, Milan Mandal, which was the only source of income for the family.
The Family presently has only Rs. 90,000 (from auto) + Rs. 6000 collected from Tsunami Shelter of Chouldary, where they live. The amount is clearly insufficient for such treatment. The old Mother-in-law has met the Member of Parliament and the Lt. Governor but till now they haven’t got any financial assistance.
“I don’t know where is my file and who is dealing with it. My son-in-law is very serious and need immediate treatment,” says Sephali Mandal, the mother-in-law of Samir Mandal.
In most of the cases the poor patients get some financial assistance from Administration but in many cases their files simply goes missing. Andaman Sheekha hopes that the cancer patient gets some financial assistance from Administration. Andaman Sheekha also requests all readers to generously donate some amount to the family members of Samir Mandal, for his treatment. Readers can also visit Samir Mandal’s family at Tsunami Shelter, Badmas Pahar, Chouldary. Those who want to donate some amount can also reach Samir Mandal over mobile number 9933262242 ( Phone number of Milan Mandal, Brother-in-law of Samir Mandal).
Dear Editor,
I would love to contribute whatever little possible by me in cases like this which are posted in your site time to time. For the purpose, may I propose to open a common account in any bank (preferably SBI), jointly by you and any other appropriate person, so that whenever required fund can be transferred online in this account. We can then even try to get contributions from general people / institutions and add to the corpus. If this is not feasible, then kindly let me know alternate way; presently I would like to contribute Rs 5K for Mr. Samir’s treatment.
