Rangat, Sept 06: The road leading to Rangat Hospital from Rangat Bazaar is presently giving nightmares to patients and local residents.
When Andaman Sheekha team visited the road it was found that the road is full of potholes, making it difficult for people to travel.
Worst sufferers are expecting mothers and senior citizens, who have to visit the hospital for frequent checkups and other needs.
Villagers allege that during rainy days the road remains inundated with waters, making things further difficult for the general public.
It seems that the matter which is related to the safety of public has been taken very lightly by the authorities.
“If we ask the Pradhan to repair the road, he blames Samity and Samity people blame the Pradhan. Recently we have heard the road has been handed over to APWD but things have not changed in the ground zero,” said an old resident of Rangat.
The matter does not end here, a footpath which is lying adjacent to the road has virtually vanished in thin year. Actually due to lack of maintenance and use, the footpath now reamain covered by garbage, creepers and algae and hence it is hard to make out that in recent past the footpath was constructed by Panchayat, wasting lakhs of rupees.
In Andaman it has become a trend that village roads are repaired only during LG’s visit. As the Lt. Governor has already finished his Middle Andaman tour, it seems that there is a little hope for the residents of Rangat for repair of the road in near future.
