Port Blair, Sept 03: The Andaman and Nicobar Police has transferred the IRBn Constable’s shooting case to Police Station Central Crime Station for speedy investigation under the close supervision of Superintendent of Police (CID). The IRBn constable, Rana Paul, has already been arrested yesterday and the weapon of offence seized from him.
On Monday (02.09.2013), Vrijeshwar Das alias Rahul, S/o Shri Kartick Das, R/o Sippighat died in firing at around 1310 hours by an IRBn Constable with his service rifle allegedly over a dispute on repayment of money. The victim was rushed in a PCR Van to G. B. Pant Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
“Meanwhile, the scene of crime has been got inspected by a team of forensic experts. The inquest proceeding were conducted by Magistrate. The dead body was handed over to the parents after a Medical Board had conducted the Post-Mortem examination, which was duly video-graphed. The accused was produced before the Hon’ble Court on Tuesday (03.09.13), and has been remanded to one-day police custody for further investigation,” a press release issued by SP, South Andaman, Mr.Chinmoy Biswal said here today.
