Port Blair, Sept 03: The case of Rana Paul, the IRBn Constable, who had shot dead unemployed youths of South Andaman yesterday, has raised many questions about possible job racket inside the department.
Kartick Das, the father of the victim Vrijeshwar Das had yesterday alleged that Rana Paul had taken Rs. 85,000 from the family promising a job in Police and the dispute over this amount had resulted in this incident.
Talking on this issue and answering to the questions raised by Andaman Sheekha, the Commandant of Indian Reserve Battalion (IRBn) Ms. Aslam Khan today said that there is no possibility of involvement of any other cop in the matter of demanding money from the youth by promising police job.
“This is because Rana Paul had told that family that no one else is involved with him and the family members of Rahul’s (Vrijeshwar Das) family used to meet only Rana Paul and no one else. However, we are conducting thorough inquiry and if anything like that comes up we will take stringent action against them,” the Commandant IRBn said.
She also mentioned that if anyone comes forward and inform police about involvement of any other cop, the department will surely take stringent action against the culprit.
“If anyone have any information, he/she must report that to the police,” she added.
Regarding consuming alcohol during duty she appealed to general public to report to Police if any cop in uniform is seen performing duties under influence of alcohol.
Regarding Rana Paul she said “Rana Paul was first placed under suspension and soon after FIR was lodged he was terminated from service.”
