Port Blair, Sept 02: Community Food and Nutrition Extension Unit Port Blair in coordination with Directorate of social welfare organized a workshop on the theme “Food security for healthy life”, as a part of National Nutrition week at School Line community hall on 2nd September 2013. On this occasion Mr. K.K.Jindal IAS Secretary Social Welfare was the chief guest He spoke about the basic objective to advocate the cause of Nutrition and create Nutritional awareness among the people so that they can improve their health besides concepts to remove malnutrition among children. He also mentioned the active role of ICDS functionaries in the week long programme.
Dr.Iqbal Ahmed Principal JNRM, presided over the function, he spoke about Food Security Concepts.
Dr.Siddharaju DY.Director Family Welfare spoke on the topic “Malnutrition a Silent Emergency”.
Dr.V.Damodran Technical Officer CARI spoke on the topic Nutritional Security and challenges around us.
Smt.Nidhi katiyar Asst. Professor JNRM, Spoke about the ICDS challenges and opportunities.
Mr.K.Venkatesh HOD Home science spoke about Good Nutrition for healthy Life.
Earlier Smt. Suma sreedharan Demonstration officer CFNEU Port Blair commenced with the introductory speech on the theme of this year “Food security for healthy life”.
Mr.P.C.James proposed the vote of thanks. The workshop was attended by 50 participants including CDPO’s, ANM’s, LHV’s, Mukhyasevikas and Anganwadi workers, a communication from Suma Sreddharan, Demonstration Officer of Community Food and Nutrition Extension Unit Port Blair said here today.
