Port Blair, Aug 01: The 10-day residential induction training of National Youth Corps Volunteers concluded on Saturday at Youth Hostel. The Director, Sports and Youth Affairs, Mr Lucas Robert ws the chief guest, while the Assistant Director (Admn and Planning), Dr U.N Choudhary was the guest of honor on the occasion.
In his address, Mr Robert said that NYCs should involve themselves in developmental activities for the society. With tremendous, NYCs can help eradicate social evils from the society and channelize youth for nation building by implementing good schemes, he said urging them to work together towards development. He distributed certificates to passed-out trainees on the occasion. Mr Mohd.Tarak Shah, DYC, Kamorta briefed about the NYC training. Trainees, Ms Afsana Shamim, NYC, Port Blair and Mr. Anup, NYC Rangat shared their experience during the training.
Various subjects were covered by resource persons during the training which include Dr RVR Moorthy, Associate Professor, JNRM (Secularism, Democracy, Communal Harmony and Social Justice and Gender Justice), Dr. S.K. Biswas, Associate Professor, JNRM (Decision Making), Dr. Ratan Mazumder, Associate Professor, JNRM (Environmental Awareness in Islands contest-Role of Youth), Mr Francis Xavier, Associate Professor, JNRM (Inter-personal relationships- How to say no and Learning & Unlearning), Dr. UN Choudhury, Assistant Director (Admn and Planning) (Schemes of Youth Affairs and Sports), Dr. C. Rani, Medical Officer Ayush Hospital (Self Development Physical Health & Hygiene, Self Motivation Mind/Emotions Management Stress-Relief), Mr Samar Lal, Rtd ACU (voter awareness), Mr Joy Kumar Roy, Retd, Joint Director, SAI (communication skills), Mr Nageswer Rao, Coach (rules and regulation of organizing various sports), Sister Sharmista, Brahma Kumari (Problem Solving, Creative Thinking and Critical Thinking) and Mr Saravana, SCV Infosys (Computer application and internet). Besides, NYKS officials Mr S.R. Biswas, DYC, Car Nicobar, Mr Alphonce Toppo, DYC, Rangat, Mr Mohd Tarak Shah, DYC Kamorta and Mr Gopal Ch Biswas, Accountant, Campbell Bay spoke on subjects like sustenance of Youth clubs, Community mobilization, working with the community, Action Plan of NYKS (2013- 14), National Youth Corps Scheme, RTI, PRI Dynamics etc.
Earlier, Mr Alphonce Toppo, DYC, Rangat welcomed the gathering. Mr Gopal Ch. Biswas, Accountant (Addl) project coordinated the programme. Mr Kundan Lal, DYC, NYK, Port Blair proposed the vole of thanks.
