Port Blair, August 14: The installation ceremony of the Inner Wheel Club was held at Hotel Bay Island here today. The First Lady of the Islands, Smt Suneeti Singh was the chief guest and inaugurated the programme by lighting the traditional lamp. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the First Lady appreciated the philanthropic activities carried out by the Club for the welfare of the poor and downtrodden. She suggested that poor children be adopted by the club members for facilitating their studies, health care and other needs. The First Lady also handed over clothes and also financial assistance to the inmates of the Pranab Kanya Sangh. She also released a bulletin brought out by the Club on the occasion.
The programme was also graced by the Chairperson, SSWB, Smt Ratna Kannan, Secretary, Social Welfare, Shri KK Jindal and others.
Smt. Neeta Agarwal, Dr. Yasmin and Satinder Kaur were inducted as the President, Secretary and Treasurer respectively for the year 2013-14.
