Port Blair, August 08: The Adhyaksha, Zilla Parishad, S/ Andaman, Smti. Abala Samddar and Shri Sudhir Biswas, Ex-Up Adhyaksh met with the Chief Post Master General, Department of Postal Service, West Bengal Circle (WBC), Kol-7000102, who arrived in A&N Islands, at Circuit House on August 07, 2013 and raised various issues before him for the betterment of Postal Services in our UT for the welfare of the islands.
Accordingly, the issues raised during the meeting are Enhance of the staffs by explaining that the A&N Islands consist of 37 inhabited islands which are discretely located, and it has been found that the people are suffering due to delay delivery of the letters like speed posts, registered latter, ordinary letter, VPPs and non availability of stamps etc, because of insufficient staffs and the poor infrastructure are per the peoples requirement. The existing strength is very insufficient to cover such a big area to provide better services in remote are like Oralkatcha, Teressa etc. So it has to require strengthening the volume of the staffs for the better Postal Services in this UT. It is further informed that the land for Post Office already allotted at Oralkatcha, but there not been started any building structure yet so far.
They were also requested to establish the Sub Post Office at Havelock, Ramkrishna Pur in S/A & Oralkatcha in our UT by explaining the Havelock and Ramakrishna Pur village is the most crowded place in Andman, there are about thousand people are living in Havelock and Ramakrishna Pur, which cover entire Havelock Island and Ramkrishna Pur village, Rabindra Nagar village, and encroachment are respectively. It is the long time demands of the villagers of the said areas in our UT to establish a Sub-Post Office at Ramakrishna Pur & Havelock for providing the better Postal services to the villagers of the said rural area. It further requested him to upgraded/ establish the Sub-Post Office at Havelock and Ramkrishna Pur from the academic session.
The Chief Post Master General, Department of Postal Service, West Bengal Circle assured to look in the matter on priority basis for the welfare of the rural area in A&N Islands, a communication said.
