Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 12: Mr.Anil Kumar Tiwari, State President of the BJP, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, has thanked Lt. Governor Dr. Dinesh Sharma for addressing longstanding concerns over fuel supply and LPG availability in the remote islands.
Mr. Tiwari welcomed the induction of MT IRIS, a new barge inducted by Indian Oil Corporation for operations in Andaman and Nicobar waters. The barge was inaugurated by the Lieutenant Governor on Sunday to improve petroleum product transportation to the islands.
Residents of Campbell Bay, Car Nicobar, Kamorta, Katchal and other southern islands have long faced delays and shortages in fuel supplies. Transporting petroleum products in barrels aboard general cargo vessels has also raised safety concerns.
Mr. Tiwari also appreciated Dr. Sharma’s intervention on recurring LPG cylinder shortages. The Lieutenant Governor has discussed the issue with senior Indian Oil Corporation officials and requested an increase in LPG storage capacity to strengthen the supply system.
Expressing gratitude for these initiatives, Tiwari said the steps addressed important concerns affecting residents of remote islands, where geographical isolation and transportation challenges often disrupt the availability of essential energy supplies.
