Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 27: The Andaman Association of Tour Operators (AATO), in collaboration with the Department of Tourism, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, organised an Open Painting Competition as part of the World Tourism Day 2026 celebrations at the Andaman Club, Port Blair.
Held on the theme “Andaman & Nicobar – A Destination for Tourism,” the competition provided participants with an opportunity to showcase their creativity through paintings highlighting the islands’ natural beauty, culture, heritage, marine life and tourism experiences.
Dr. K. Chandrasekaran, President, Andaman Nicobar Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ANCCI), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and distributed prizes to the winners.
In the Junior Category, the First Prize was secured by G. Rama Rao of GDMS School, while N. Kaushik of St. Mary’s School, Bhatubasti, won the Second Prize and C. Kashni of Carmel Senior Secondary School secured the Third Prize.
In the Senior Category, the First Prize was won by S. Sadhana of PM SHRI KV1, followed by U. Rakshita of Kendriya Vidyalaya who secured the Second Prize, while Jyoti of GB Pant Hospital won the Third Prize.
Mrs. M. Vinod, President, AATO, thanked all the participants for their enthusiastic participation and appreciated the excellent quality, creativity and effort reflected in the paintings. He also expressed his appreciation to the schools, institutions and everyone who supported the successful conduct of the competition.
The event provided a platform for students, artists and members of the community to celebrate the rich natural and cultural heritage of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands through art as part of the World Tourism Day celebrations.
