Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 25: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued weather warnings for the Andaman & Nicobar Islands for the coming week. A weather warning is in force for the next seven days, while a farmer warning remains valid for the next five days.
According to IMD, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph are likely to occur at one or two places over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands during the forecast period. Residents are advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions during thunderstorm activity.
Fishermen Advisory
IMD has informed that no fishermen warning is currently in force for the Andaman & Nicobar coast. However, a swell surge alert has been issued. Swell waves ranging from 17.0 to 24.0 seconds in period with a wave height of 1.3 to 1.5 metres are forecast along the coast up to 2330 hrs on September 26, 2026. Fishermen and coastal communities are advised to operate with caution and remain vigilant regarding sea conditions.
Farmer Advisory
Farmers are advised to take necessary precautions as thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph are likely to affect isolated areas of the islands during the warning period. Suitable measures may be taken to protect standing crops, livestock and agricultural equipment from adverse weather conditions.
Port Warning: The outlook for the subsequent two days indicates little change in prevailing weather conditions.
