Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 22: The District Administration of North & Middle Andaman, under the leadership of Mr. Sushant Padha, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, made a surprise visit to Budha Nallah Village, a Ranchi-community- majority village under Mayabunder Tehsil, on 21 September 2026. Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, has welcomed this special initiative of the District Administration and expressed its heartfelt gratitude.
During the visit, the administrative team included Mr. Abdul Mubeen, Assistant Engineer, Andaman Public Works Department, Mayabunder Division; Mr. Ajit, Revenue Inspector, Mayabunder Tehsil; Mr. Gureya, Reader, Deputy Commissioner’s Office; Mrs. Basanti Devi, Zilla Parishad Member, Pahargaon; and Mr. Binay Kumar Mandal, Ward Member, Gram Panchayat Pahargaon, along with other officials and public representatives.
The visit to Budha Nallah Village was made possible with the significant efforts of Mr. Ranjit Bepari, Social Worker, Tugapur. He had consistently brought the problems and needs of the villagers to the attention of the administration and urged the authorities to visit the village.
The administrative team had to travel through an extremely difficult, unpaved, narrow pathway to reach the village. Budha Nallah is a D-Reserve village situated inside a forest area, approximately half an hour from National Highway-4 (ATR). At present, there is no paved road connecting the village, due to which the villagers face considerable difficulties in transportation and access to essential services.
Mrs. Neelima Saroj, Budha Nallah Ward, Gram Panchayat Pahargaon, also played an important role in making the meeting successful. Within a short period, she mobilized the villagers and facilitated an opportunity for direct interaction and dialogue between the villagers and the administration.
This was the first visit of the Deputy Commissioner to Budha Nallah Village. The arrival of senior administrative officials in the village generated considerable enthusiasm among the villagers. The villagers expressed their happiness at getting an opportunity to present their problems directly before the administration. The initiative has created a renewed sense of confidence and positivity among the villagers towards development activities and the government and administration.
Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, which has been continuously working for the overall development and welfare of the Vanvasi-Adivasi community of Chota Nagpuri Ranchi origin in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, appreciates this special initiative of the District Administration of North & Middle Andaman. Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram has expressed hope that the administration will continue to pay attention to the basic needs of remote and difficult-to-reach villages such as Budha Nallah and take concrete steps towards resolving the problems faced by the villagers.
