Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 21: Councillor of Ward No. 24, Bathubasti, and former Chairperson of Sri Vijiyapuram Municipal Council, Mrs. Kavitha Udhayakumar, has sought urgent intervention from the Andaman & Nicobar Administration over the irregular supply and non-availability of LPG cylinders in Ward No. 24 and surrounding areas.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, the Deputy Commissioner (South Andaman), and the Assistant Secretary (AR Wing), the Councillor stated that residents have been facing severe difficulties in obtaining LPG cylinders from M/s Reem Indane Gas Agency for the past three months.
It was stated that the disruption has reportedly been caused by inadequate and irregular LPG supply from Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOC) to the distributor, resulting in difficulties for families in obtaining cooking gas on time. The Councillor has requested the Administration to intervene in the matter and direct the concerned authorities, including IOC and the distributor, to ensure adequate and regular allocation of LPG cylinders and restore uninterrupted supply to the residents of Ward No. 24 at the earliest.
A clear schedule and timing for the distribution of refill cylinders have also been requested to be fixed and widely publicised through print media and All India Radio, so that residents can be informed in advance and collect their cylinders without difficulty.
The Councillor has further urged that immediate necessary action be taken to resolve the issue permanently and provide relief to the affected residents.
