
Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 20: The Department of Home Science, JNRM, in association with NSS Unit-I, observed Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2026 from September 9 to 19, 2026, with a series of activities aimed at promoting awareness about nutrition and healthy dietary practices among students and the rural community.
The celebrations included a Slogan Writing Competition, Walkathon, Quiz Competition, Poster Making Competition and an awareness programme at Anganwadi Centre, Ward No. 5. Students of the Department of Home Science presented a Nukkad Natak on “Motapa – Sehat Ka Dushman” and “Malnutrition”, highlighting the importance of balanced nutrition and healthy lifestyle practices.
A Gram Sabha will be organized at Mithakhari Gram Panchayat to discuss nutritional concerns with parents of Anganwadi beneficiaries and school-going children.
The valedictory programme was held on September 19, 2026, with Dr. Pearl Devdas, Principal, JNRM, as the Chief Guest who administered a pledge on “Poshan Abhiyan 2026” to the august gathering and Dr. S.K. Biswas, Associate Professor & Head, Department of Political Science, as the Guest of Honour. Mrs. Nidhi Shekhawat, Head, Department of Home Science, presented a report on the week-long activities, emphasizing improved dietary habits, reduced consumption of processed food, inclusion of local foods and the vision of Saksham Bharat–Viksit Bharat.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Reena Singh, Resource Person, and was moderated by Dr. Poonam Ajay Singh, Resource Person.
