Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 17: On the auspicious occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti, the The Lt. Governor, Dr. Dinesh Sharma, performed the traditional puja and offered prayers at Lok Niwas along with senior officers and all the staff members. Thereafter, he also participated in the Vishwakarma Jayanti celebrations at Chatham Saw Mill.
Extending his greetings and best wishes to all on the occasion, the The Lt. Governor said that “Lord Vishwakarma is revered as the deity of construction and creation. Whether it is the construction of heaven, the palace of the Pandavas or Lanka, Lord Vishwakarma is regarded as the deity of construction.”
He expressed the hope that development and construction work in the A&N Islands would be undertaken in a good and effective manner. He said that the celebration of Vishwakarma Puja carries a resolve that all construction works undertaken in the Islands should be durable, of good quality and become a testimony to the overall development and progress of the people of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The The Lt. Governor further said that Lord Vishwakarma is revered as the deity who removes obstacles and ensures the smooth completion of endeavours. Vishwakarma Puja is traditionally organised at places where tools, machinery and equipment are used.
He said that items made of iron and other materials used in construction work, such as chisels, hammers, tools, machinery and vehicles, are worshipped on this occasion, with the resolve that all construction and development works are completed smoothly and without any obstacle or untoward incident.
He said that the Vishwakarma Puja programmes organised at Lok Niwas and Chatham Saw Mill convey the message and collective resolve that all development and construction works in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands should be completed successfully, smoothly and without hindrance.
