Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 16: On World Ozone Day-2026, Mass Tree Plantation Drive commenced with the planting of a Peepal tree sapling by Addl. Director & Regional Head Dr. Lal Singh at Botanical Garden, Nayashahar, South Andaman to mark the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. Over 400 saplings of various rare threatened and economically important plant species such as Cycads, Wild cashew nut, Marium Khatta, Paduak, Nutmeg, Andaman Mango, Wild Almond, Lal Bombway etc., planted by officials.
