
Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 10: The inaugural function of the 9th Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2026 was organised by the ICDS Urban Project under the Directorate of Social Welfare on 10 September 2026 at the Auditorium of Tagore Government College of Education (TGCE), Sri Vijaya Puram, with great enthusiasm and commitment towards the vision of a malnutrition-free India.
The programme was graced by the presence of Mr. Hemant Kumar, Secretary (Social Welfare/Finance), Mr. Mohit Mishra, Director (Social Welfare), Mr. H. M. Siddaraju, Director of Health, along with officials and representatives from the Health, Education and Agriculture Departments, Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), NGOs and other stakeholder departments.
The 9th Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2026, being observed from 9 September to 8 October 2026, aims to reinforce the importance of nutrition, health and early childhood development, particularly among women, children and adolescents, under the Government of India’s flagship nutrition initiative, Poshan Abhiyaan.
Addressing the gathering, Secretary (Social Welfare), emphasised the importance of community participation and inter-departmental convergence in achieving improved nutrition outcomes. He elaborated on key thematic areas of Poshan Maah, including:
- Dietary Diversity and Adequate Protein
- Fresh Hot Cooked Meals (HCM)
- Community Ownership and Accountability
- Nutrition and Early Stimulation for Childhood Development
- Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) – Cash Transfers for Maternal Health
The Director (Social Welfare), also shared valuable insights and encouraging words, highlighting the importance of collective responsibility, community participation and effective convergence among various departments and stakeholders for the successful implementation of Poshan Abhiyaan.
The inaugural programme concluded with a vote of thanks, reaffirming the collective commitment of the administration, frontline workers, departments, community organisations and citizens towards improving nutrition outcomes and fostering a healthier, well-nourished and brighter future for every child and family.
