Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 01: The State Control Room, based on the latest weather forecast issued by IMD Kolkata and IMD Shadipur, Sri Vijaya Puram, has issued weather, fisherman, farmer and port warnings for the Andaman & Nicobar Islands for the coming days.
According to the forecast, thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty winds reaching 40–50 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over the Andaman Islands on September 2, 2026. Thunderstorms and lightning are also likely at one or two places over the Nicobar Islands on the same day.
On September 3, thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty winds reaching 30–40 kmph are likely at one or two places over the Andaman Islands, while thunderstorms and lightning are also likely at one or two places over the Nicobar Islands.
From September 4 to 6, thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty winds of 30–40 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over the Andaman Islands.
The fishermen warning for the Andaman & Nicobar coast indicates that squally weather with wind speeds of 35–45 kmph, occasionally gusting up to 55 kmph, is likely to prevail along and off the Andaman & Nicobar coasts till 02, 2026.
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea along and off the Andaman & Nicobar coasts during the warned period.
A Swell Surge Alert has also been issued for the coast of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Swell waves with a period of 15–18 seconds and wave heights of around 1.8–2.3 metres are forecast up to 2300 hours on September 2, 2026.
There is a possibility of surging waves, and boats have been advised to ply with utmost vigilance. Recreational activities have also been advised to be undertaken with due care.
The farmer warning indicates that thunderstorms with lightning accompanied by gusty winds of 40–50 kmph are likely to occur at one or two places over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands on September 2.
Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of 30–40 kmph are likely at one or two places over the islands on September 3 and 4.
The public, fishermen and farmers have been advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions in view of the anticipated weather and sea conditions.
The Port Warning indicates little change in conditions during the subsequent two days.
