Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 28:The Division of Animal Science, ICAR-CIARI, in collaboration with ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Sippighat, organised an exposure visit of 25 livestock farmers to the Government Pig Training-cum-Demonstration Farm, Dollygunj recently as part of the training programme on ‘information and awareness on scientific pig rearing practices.’
During the visit, Senior Veterinary Officer, DTCDF, Dollygunj, briefed the farmers on scientific pig rearing practices, including feeding, housing, breeding, deworming and routine management. The farmers were also sensitized on pork value addition through products such as ham, bacon and sausage, and the potential of piggery as a livelihood option.
The farmers showed keen interest in adopting scientific pig husbandry practices and enrolled their names for obtaining piglets from the farm.
