Port Blair, Jun 26: Mr. K. Venkat Ram Babu, General Secretary, Jan Kranti Party in his letter addressed to the Director of Education has demanded to fill up the 400 posts of Group ‘C’ peon-cum-chowkidar lying vacant with the department.
According to the reference given in his letter it is very clear that the an interview was conducted on 22nd and 23rd June 1998 and a merit list of 541 candidates were prepared and regular appointments were provided to the candidates from serial no. 1 to 38 according to the merit list, and then in between 1999 to 2001 five candidates got regular employment and the last time when a regular employment was provided was in the year 2002 to one candidate and after that only part time employees were selected from the merit list.
Mr. Venkat giving reference of the letter added that most of the empanelled candidates have become over aged and art not eligible to seek employment in Govt. Departments “Since 521 candidates were empanelled at that time that means the exact number of vacancies also existed.” he wrote.
He further added that due to purposeful intentions these vacancies were not filled up and demanded immediate action to be taken to offer suitable jobs to the left out candidates from the merit list so that they could live a life of dignity.
