Mayabunder, August 21: The long-pending issue of the badly damaged rural road at Kamlapur once again came to the forefront as Mr. , Panchayat Samiti Member of Harinagar, and State Secretary of the BJP, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, along with villagers and regular commuters of Kamlapur, met the Assistant Commissioner (HQ), Mayabunder, on Friday.
During the meeting, the delegation highlighted the serious difficulties being faced by villagers, students, workers, farmers and daily commuters due to the poor and deteriorating condition of the Kamlapur village road.
The villagers strongly raised the issue of urgent repair and maintenance of the road, particularly the numerous potholes and severely damaged stretches, which have made transportation difficult and unsafe. They stated that the deteriorating road condition is causing hardship to the local population and increasing the risk of accidents, especially during adverse weather conditions.
The delegation urged the administration and concerned authorities to take immediate and time-bound action for pothole repairs and restoration of the damaged portions of the road.
The villagers have also served a 15-day ultimatum on the concerned authorities, demanding that necessary pothole repairs and maintenance works be initiated and completed within the stipulated period.
The villagers further stated that if the authorities fail to take concrete action within the 15-day period, they may be compelled to adopt democratic and peaceful means of agitation to press for their long-pending demand.
Mr. Dilip Kumar Das assured the villagers that their genuine concerns would be brought to the notice of the concerned authorities and that efforts would be made to seek an early solution to the road problem.
The villagers have expressed hope that the administration will treat the matter as a priority and ensure immediate repair, proper maintenance and long-term restoration of the Kamlapur rural road in the larger public interest.
