Port Blair, Jun 25: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President, PCC has requested the Principal Secretary Education Mrs. Rina Ray to fill up all the vacant posts in Education Department at an early date. In his letter Mr. Sharma stated that a good number of vacancies for the posts of PGT, GTT, PST and Librarian are lying vacant in the Education Department where as many waiting eligible teachers are also available to be considered against such vacancies.
Due to need of teachers and librarian, students of various schools of these Islands are facing acute problems and their studies are being hampered. On the other hand, the waiting teachers are also facing acute financial problems to run their families in these hard days. The teachers who have the desire to acquire more knowledge in their respective subjects of choice through correspondence courses are also finding themselves helpless due to financial problems.
Mr. Sharma has requested the Pr. Secretary Education to consider filling up of all such available vacancies with the eligible waiting teachers which will be beneficial to both the groups i.e. the students and teachers.
