Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 16: Andaman Sangeet Academy (ASA), Junglighat, Sri Vijaya Puram, South Andaman, organised a cultural evening “Smarane Swadhinota” on the eve of the 80th Independence Day on 15th August 2026 (Saturday).
The programme was held at Anant Vihar Colony, Teylabrad, Garacharma, Sri Vijaya Puram, at 6:00 p.m. Mr. Tapas Kumar Das, President of the Academy, was the Chief Guest. The function commenced with a floral tribute in front of the National Flag by the Chief Guest and others. Mrs. Rekha Rani Dhar, Treasurer of the Academy, welcomed the gathering.
Members of the Andaman Sangeet Academy presented an inaugural song, “Vande Mataram.” This was followed by patriotic musical performances by Mrs. Namita Home Chowdhury, Mr. B. C. Naskar, Mr. Amit Roy, Mr. Chinmoy Das and Mrs. Soma Roy, accompanied on Tabla by Mr. Emanuel Mridha and Mr. Anurag Roy.
The performances were well received by the audience, who enjoyed the entire programme. The event concluded at 7:30 p.m. with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Soumen Home Chowdhury, General Secretary of Andaman Sangeet Academy (ASA), Junglighat, Sri Vijaya Puram, South Andaman.
