Sri Vijaya Puram, July 29: Mr. M.A. Sajid, State President, NSUI and State Vice President, PYC, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, on 29 July submitted a representation to the Lieutenant Governor, Sri Vijaya Puram, requesting a special re-application and correction window for the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Recruitment Examination – 2026. He submitted the representation on behalf of thousands of educated youth and job aspirants of the islands.
In the representation, Mr. Sajid stated that the A&N Administration had started the online application process for CGL recruitment about 6 to 7 months ago. However, major graduation results for Engineering, Arts, Science and Commerce are declared by universities in June and July every year. As a result, a large number of students from A&N Islands who completed their graduation in June/July 2026 became eligible for graduate-level posts but could not apply due to the current timeline.
Mr. Sajid further stated that unlike UPSC and SSC, major recruitments in the Union Territory are conducted after a gap of several years. The last recruitment was held in 2023-2024 and the present one is in 2026. If fresh graduates of 2026 are not allowed to apply now, they will have to wait for many more years for the next opportunity. This will cause career stagnation and age-bar issues for many youths. Citing the Administration’s pro-youth approach, Mr. Sajid recalled that in earlier recruitments for CHSL and Matriculation-level posts, additional windows were provided for new candidates. “On similar grounds of natural justice and equal opportunity, we request the same consideration for CGL aspirants,” he said.
He added that this step will safeguard the career of thousands of local youths and ensure better participation in the recruitment process. The ANTCC reaffirmed its commitment to stand with the students and youth of the islands.
