Sri Vijaya Puram, July 28: A certificate course in Consumer Advocacy of three months’ duration has commenced at Andaman Law College (ALC). The Consumer Advocacy Group (CAG), which has a nationwide presence, is conducting this online course exclusively for Andaman Law College students. It is absolutely free of cost, and all final-year students are enrolled, according to the principal of the college, Prof. P.V.N. Sarma. The CAG, in its mission to train the upcoming law graduates in the area of consumer litigation with ease and confidence, designed this course. After completion of the course, the student will get an e-certificate. As many as seven subject experts, including retired judges, agreed to deliver online sessions to the students. Sessions will be held on every Saturday evening or Sunday morning, said the National Chairman of Consumer Advocacy Group Dr. P.V.V.S. Murthy. While inaugurating the course, Dr. Murthy appealed to the participants to make use of this opportunity to render service to the consumers who are often exploited and vulnerable sections in the marketplace. “Awareness leads to empowerment,” he said. The first lecture in the series has been delivered by Mr. Y. Ramakrishna, High Court Registrar (Retd.), of the Andhra Pradesh High Court. Rama Krishna discussed ‘Professional Ethics and Court Etiquette’ in detail. He clarified the doubts and queries. Ms. Alqama is designated as faculty coordinator, whereas Ms. Aliya Mazeed is student coordinator.
