Sri Vijaya Puram, July 21: The Directorate of Disaster Management, A&N Administration, has informed that the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds (30–40 kmph) and lightning at one or two places over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands during the next few days.
According to the advisory, swell waves in the range of 15.0–18.0 seconds with a height of 1.3–1.5 metres are likely along the Andaman and Nicobar coast up to 5.30 hours on July 22, 2026. There is a possibility of surging waves, and boats have been advised to ply with utmost vigilance while people have been urged to exercise caution during recreational activities near the sea.
The Administration has advised residents to remain alert during thunderstorms and lightning and take necessary safety precautions. Fishermen, boat operators and the general public have also been urged to remain cautious and follow official advisories.
The outlook for the subsequent two days indicates little change in the prevailing weather conditions.
