
Sri Vijaya Puram, July 19:A Sensitization and Training Programme on the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH Act) was successfully conducted yesterday for the officers and staff of the Office of the Assistant Commissioner (Settlement), Sri Vijaya Puram, at the Auditorium of TGCE.
The programme commenced with an enlightening address by Ms. Priyanka Kumari, ADM (South Andaman), who highlighted the importance and relevance of the POSH Act in ensuring a safe, inclusive and respectful workplace. She emphasized the need for awareness among employees regarding their rights and responsibilities under the Act and underscored the collective role of every individual in fostering a workplace free from sexual harassment.
The training session was conducted by Ms. Rubina Siddiqui, President, Right for All NGO and Certified POSH Trainer, who delivered an engaging and interactive presentation on the various provisions of the POSH Act, including its objectives, mechanisms for redressal of complaints, and the role and responsibilities of employers and employees. The session witnessed active participation from the officers and staff of AC (Settlement), who enthusiastically interacted with the resource person and sought clarifications on various aspects of the Act.
The members of the Internal Complaint Committee (ICC) constituted for the offices of the Deputy Commissioner (South Andaman), Assistant Commissioner (South Andaman) and Assistant Commissioner (Settlement) were also present during the programme to gain deeper insights into the implementation and functioning of the POSH Act and the responsibilities entrusted to the Committee under the statutory framework.
