Sri Vijaya Puram, June 22: The State Control Room under the Directorate of Disaster Management, A&N Administration, has issued a weather advisory forecasting thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds and lightning over parts of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands during the coming days.
According to the advisory based on the forecast of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Kolkata, from June 23 to June 28, thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds reaching 40–50 kmph and lightning are likely to occur at one or two places across the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
The IMD, Sri Vijaya Puram, has also issued a farmer’s warning for the next five days, advising that similar weather conditions are likely to prevail. Farmers have been urged to take necessary precautions to safeguard crops, livestock and agricultural equipment from the expected adverse weather.
The advisory stated that no fishermen warning has been issued at present, indicating that there are currently no restrictions on fishing activities. The port warning outlook for the subsequent two days indicates little change in the prevailing weather conditions.
The State Control Room has advised residents to remain alert during thunderstorms and lightning and to follow safety precautions issued by the authorities throughout the forecast period.
