Sri Vijaya Puram, June 18: The celebration of the 49th Foundation Day of ICAR–Central Island Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-CIARI), Sri Vijaya Puram, to be held on 23 June 2026 at the Dr. T.R. Dutta Conference Hall, ICAR-CIARI, Garacharma Research Complex, Sri Vijaya Puram.
Established on 23 June 1978, ICAR-CIARI serves as the premier agricultural research institute for the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Minicoy, Lakshadweep. Supported by three KVKs, the Institute has, over the past 48 years, contributed significantly to agricultural development, technology dissemination, sustainable livelihoods, and the growth of the island agricultural sector.
Ms. Pallavi Sarkar, IAS, Secretary (Agriculture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services and Fisheries), Andaman and Nicobar Administration, has kindly consented to be the Chief Guest for the occasion. Mr. K. Vijayapandian, General Manager, NABARD, has graciously consented to be the Guest of Honour. The Foundation Day Lecture will be delivered by Dr. A. K. Nayak, Deputy Director General (Natural Resource Management), ICAR, New Delhi. The programme will be presided over by Dr. Jai Sunder, Director, ICAR-CIARI.
