Sri Vijaya Puram, June 17: CRC A&N Islands organized a Fire & Safety Awareness and Demonstration Programme on 17 June 2026 at its premises in Sri Vijaya Puram in collaboration with Fire & Emergency Services, Garacharma.
The programme aimed to create awareness among staff members, trainees, parents, caregivers, and interns regarding fire prevention, emergency preparedness, and appropriate response during fire-related emergencies. The event was attended by CRC staff members, interns from Andaman College (ANCOL) and Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM), parents, caregivers, and beneficiaries of CRC services.
The awareness and demonstration session was conducted by Mr. Iqtedar Bux, Sub-Inspector, and Mr. Ismail, Sub-Inspector, from Fire Station, Garacharma. The resource persons provided detailed information on fire hazards, preventive measures, evacuation procedures, and the correct use of fire-fighting equipment. Participants were also given a live demonstration on handling fire extinguishers and responding effectively during emergency situations.
Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Sumithamol, Director, CRC A&N Islands, emphasized the importance of safety awareness and preparedness in educational and rehabilitation institutions. She appreciated the efforts of Fire & Emergency Services in educating the community and strengthening disaster preparedness.
A significant highlight of the programme was the generous contribution made by Fire & Emergency Services, Garacharma, through the sponsorship of fire extinguishers and sand buckets to CRC A&N Islands. These safety resources will further enhance the Centre’s emergency preparedness and fire safety infrastructure.
