Sri Vijaya Puram, June 12: Keeping its Commitments of extension of various Social Security assistances to all eligible beneficiary workmen, the Office of Beneficiary Registering Officer / Assistant Labour Commissioner, North & Middle Andaman, Rangat, had organized an “Awareness Generation- cum – Registration Camp” with sincere co-operation of Gram Panchayat Paschimsagar, Diglipur, for the benefit of Building & Other Construction Workers of North Andaman at Gram Panchayat of Paschimsagar, Diglipur on 12th & 13th June, 2026 respectively. Its Inagural Session was held on 12th June, 2026 at 11:00 A.M at Panchayat Hall, Gram Panchayat Paschimsagar, Diglipur, North Andaman.
Smti. Arpona Roy Up- Adyaksh Zilla Parishad, North & Middle Andaman and Mr. Dipankar Mistry, Pramukh Panchayat Samiti, Diglipur, was Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively at the Programme. Mr. Shibendranath Halder, SHO, PS. Kalighat, Dr. Shipra Mistri from CHC Diglipur, Mr. Hare Krishna, JE APWD, Mr. Uma Sankar Halder, Pradhan, Paschimsagar Gram Panchayat, Mr. Uttam Kumar Saha, Govt. Contractor, Other PRI Members, Govt. Contractors & other distinguished guests were
graced the occasion.
It was a grand success wherein altogether more than 150 nos. Construction Workers attended the Program. Mr. Suranjan Mukhopadhyay, Beneficiary Registering Officer / Assistant Labour Commissioner, A & N Administration, North & Middle Andaman while addressing the gathering mentioned that the A & N Administration has constituted the ANI BOCW Welfare Board in 2009. As per the provisions mentioned under the Acts & Rules to provide various financial benefits to the Registered Construction Workers such as Children Education Assistance, Medical Assistance, Marriage Assistance, Maternity Assistance, Pensionbenefits, Disability Assistance, Death & Funeral Assistance, Skill Development Assistance in the UT of A & N Islands and as per the provisions any workers aged between 18 & 60 yrs. for a minimum period of 90 days in the preceding 12 months, engaged in building & other construction activities is eligible for registration as a beneficiary with the ANI BOCW Welfare Board. Further, he elaborated that an amount of ₹ 36.65 Crore (Rupees Thirty-six Crore and Sixty Five Lakhs Only) has since been disbursed by the ANI BOCW Welfare Board to the eligible beneficiary Workmen through various social security schemes through DBT mode. The BRO/ALC also responded to various queries raised by the construction workers and general public on the spot favorably during Interaction Session.
The entire program was conducted by Mr. P. Joga Rao, LGC, ALC Office, Rangat and it was concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr. V.J Jose Kutty, Field – cum – Office Assistant, workers Facilitation Centre, Diglipur.
