Port Blair, June 16: The Valedictory function of Kathak workshop by Naach Academy of Performing Arts was held at ASI Auditorium yesterday. Director of Art &Culture Mr. Lucas Robert distributed certificates to the participants. Kathak exponent Debashree Bhattacharya presented a solo performance. The junior batch surprised the audience with their performance while the senior batch of office going ladies also presented a performance on moods of monsoon. Members of EZCC and SZCC graced the occasion.
Addressing the gathering Mr. Lucas Robert said that India is known through as these kinds of dances and culture.
“Kathak is an excellent form of dance and thanks to this workshop, people in Andaman got the chance to learn this classical dance.
Mr. Robert thanked the Naach academy for bringing up such kind of Classical dance in Andaman.
Further, Mr. Naresh Chander Lal, well known film director said that Kathak is the most powerful dramatic art form in India. He said that experts of Bharatnatyam and other dance form should also be brought in these islands. Mrs Rashida Iqbal, incharge of Art and Culture was also present in this occasion.
