Sri Vijaya Puram, May 22: A delegation of Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sangathan, A&N Islands comprising RGPRS State President Mr. O. Bashir, Ferrargunj Block President Mr. Mohammad Ali, and RGPRS State Organization Secretary Mr. T. Shaji met Dr. M. Sujata Hegde, Director In-Charge of the Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services Department (AH & VS), along with Joint Director Dr. Ajay Verma, to discuss several issues concerning livestock owners and the general public in Ferrargunj Tehsil.
During the meeting, the delegation highlighted the severe shortage of staff in the Animal Husbandry Department in Ferrargunj Tehsil, unavailability of essential medicines, and inadequate veterinary services in rural areas. The leaders pointed out that there is no proper veterinary vehicle available for transporting sick animals to hospitals, causing serious inconvenience and hardship to villagers and livestock owners.
The delegation further stated that veterinary doctors also face difficulties in visiting remote areas due to lack of transport facilities, while most of the existing departmental vehicles are in poor condition and require immediate attention.
Dr. M. Sujata Hegde and Dr. Ajay Verma patiently heard the concerns raised by the delegation and assured that necessary steps would be initiated to address the issues. They informed that a meeting with the concerned doctors and staff of the Veterinary Department would be convened soon to discuss and resolve the problems on priority.
The officials also assured the delegation that the matter would be taken up at the appropriate level for necessary action in the interest of livestock owners and the farming community.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with the delegation expressing gratitude to the officials for their supportive response and assurance.
