Sri Vijaya Puram May 21: On the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary year of the great tribal hero Bhagwan Birsa Munda, a grand “Janjati Sanskritik Samagam – 2026” is being organized by Janjati Suraksha Manch on Sunday, 24 May 2026, at the Red Fort Grounds in Delhi. More than 1.5 lakh participants from over 500 tribal communities across the country are expected to take part in this massive cultural gathering.
Bhagwan Birsa Munda is remembered as a symbol of the identity, existence and rights of India’s 12 crore tribal population. The tribal society of India has always shown how to live in harmony with water, forests and land. This grand event is being organized to showcase the rich tribal culture, traditions and heritage of India. Participants from all over the country are travelling to Delhi at their own expense, making it one of the largest cultural gatherings of its kind.
For the first time, such a large number of tribal communities are coming together in the national capital to uphold and celebrate their culture and traditions. Tribal men and women dressed in their traditional attire will participate in colorful cultural processions, presenting the richness of their heritage to the people of Delhi. These processions will begin from five different locations, symbolically representing the diversity of tribal traditions and will culminate at the Red Fort, where a massive public gathering will be held. India’s Union Home Minister Mr. Amit Shah will attend this massive gathering as a chief guest.
For this historic conclave, the organizing committee formed by Janjati Suraksha Manch, along with the residents of Delhi is actively engaged in making arrangements to welcome tribal brothers and sisters arriving from remote forests and hilly regions across the country.
Participants from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands will also take part in this historic Tribal Cultural Conclave. A total of 133 participants belonging to 12 tribal groups of Chota Nagpuri origin are joining this event. Among them, the first group of 82 participants is travelling by ship via Chennai, while another group of 43 participants is travelling by ship via Kolkata and 8 participants are travelling directly to Delhi by air. There is great enthusiasm among the Ranchi tribal community of the islands and they are eager to interact with tribal communities from across the nation and learn about their cultural heritage and traditions.
This Tribal Cultural Conclave will pay tribute to the glorious legacy of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and will remind the nation of the rich and proud traditions of tribal society. It will also raise awareness about challenges faced by tribal society for their religion, culture and traditions. Discussions and demands related to the rights of tribal communities, including concerns over religious conversions and reservation benefits are also expected to be highlighted.
The conclave will further address issues concerning forces that attempt to divide tribal society and separate it from the larger Sanatan social framework. More than just a cultural event, this gathering represents a significant national opportunity for unity and solidarity. The Delhi conclave will strengthen the spirit of national integration under the message: “You and I are of the same blood.”
